Applications are invited from the ISTM members only (Except Best Technologist Award) for awards initiated by ISTM as per defined criteria. The interested members should follow all defined criteria laid down for the awards. Kindly note one member can apply for one award only. Interested members are requested to submit detailed biodata along with the research work duly approved by Head of the Department.

The applications are to be submitted to the Secretary ISTM at Email ID rrspgi@gmail.com latest by 30^th September 2023. No further extension will be granted. Kindly state your membership number along with the application form.

The applications submitted will be reviewed by the sub-committee of the ISTM Executive and finally approved by the President and Secretary ISTM. Awards will be announced one week prior to the Conference.

1. Professor J.G. Jolly Award

This award has been instituted in the memory of Late Prof. (Dr.) J. G. Jolly who spent his lifetime to promote the speciality of transfusion medicine and to bolster human resource development in this field in the country. The award includes a plaque and a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-.

Criteria

• Postgraduate students pursuing MD/DNB Transfusion Medicine/IHBT or Senior Residents or equivalent (Tutors, Demonstrators) who have qualified this course will be eligible.
• The original research paper not awarded earlier by any organization should be submitted to the Executive committee of ISTM through the secretary ISTM. The abstracts will be selected based on originality of research idea and the research paper should highlight some interesting concepts about Transfusion Medicine.

2. Professor V.L. Ray Memorial Award

This award has been instituted in the memory of Late Prof. (Dr.) V L Ray who was a teacher par excellence and spent her lifetime for the teaching and training in the field of Transfusion Medicine. This award includes a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-

Criteria

• This would be a combined award for the guide and the student duo for the best thesis work (MD / DNB) including research paper accepted or published based on the thesis of the student after March 2022.
• The original research paper not awarded earlier by any organization along with the copy of the executive summary / synopsis of the thesis and the self-attested thesis certificate (present in the thesis signed by the guide) is to be submitted to the Executive committee of ISTM through secretary ISTM.
• The format for application for the award is available on the ISTM website .

3. Young Scientist Award

Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine (ISTM) strives to acknowledge those dedicated to providing quality blood transfusion services and advancements in the transfusion science so as continue to foster the best transfusion practices. Therefore, ISTM has established Young Scientist Award to honour individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the field of Transfusion Medicine in India. Each year one award is given in the annual conference of ISTM. The selected candidate is given free registration, travel (economy air fare) and accommodation during the period of conference. CV along with highlights of work done is to be submitted to the secretary ISTM.

Criteria

• The candidate should be equal to or less than 40 years of age (Include document for age proof such as Aadhar card or copy of driving license)
• Updated Curriculum Vitae highlighting significant contributions should be submitted.
• The candidate should also submit to the Secretary ISTM a list of original research papers published, any new laboratory facility developed, any development in teaching/training technology in the field of Transfusion Medicine.

4. Postgraduate Student Award (Travel Fellowship)

Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine has established Postgraduate Student Award to encourage students to present their innovative work (abstracts to be submitted) at annual conference of ISTM. There will be minimum two awards each year. The selected students will be given free registration in the conference, travel (economy air fare) and accommodation during the period of conference. The students are awarded with a Certificate and Memento and given a chance for oral presentation.

Criteria

• He/She should be registered for MD/DNB Transfusion Medicine/IHBT
• The original research paper not awarded earlier by any organisation.
• The abstract should be forwarded through Head of the Department

5. Technologist Award

This award is meant for the technical personnel who have done some innovative research work (abstracts need to be submitted) of high standard or have developed any new lab facility in their department. Every year one award is given to the selected candidate which includes free registration in the conference, AC 2 tier travel allowance and accommodation during the period of conference.

Criteria

• The candidate should be ≤40 years (Include document for age proof such as Aadhar card or copy of driving license)
• The original research paper not awarded by any organization should be submitted to the Secretary of ISTM.
• The abstract will be selected on the basis of originality of research idea and the research paper should highlight some interesting concepts about Transfusion Medicine.
• The application should be forwarded by Head of the concerned department.
• The selected candidate shall be required to present his/her research work as free oral paper in the conference.
